Scouting report Dan Ndoye - Lausanne Sport
I've decided to try out a new approach to scouting. Instead of looking at how well the player is playing which almost always shows up positively in the data I am going to look at the attributes the player has.
I'm going to look at a combination of data and video and record the results here. The categories I've chosen for assessing the player aren't ones I've given a huge amount of thought to, it is an initial list of the things I think are important to predict the long term career progression of young players.
Player - Dan Ndoye
Club - Lausanne Sport
Age - 18
Position - plays across the front 3, most often as an inverted winger.
Technical
Foot
Good ball striking ability with either foot.
Comfortable using either to shoot with and generates good power.
Probably gets a slightly better shape on crosses from the left but has played wide on either side of the attack and tends to cut in and shoot more than cross.
Touch
Close control with either foot impressive, no aerial balls controlled on the clips seen so far.
Vision
One of the key areas for players able to move up through the leagues is vision, the ability to spot movements and runs from other players. Ndoye has shown some very good signs of this such as this pass.
Shooting
Of the 8 goals he has scored 3 left footed, 4 right footed, 1 header. 2 from left channel, 3 from right channel, 3 central. 1 within 6 yard box, 2 from outside penalty area, 5 within penalty area.
He likes to shoot from distance when in wide positions, for his national team as a striker he is more disciplined with shooting locations with more chances in central areas closer to goal. He is an excellent long-range shooter though with powerful shots towards the corners.
Aerial ability
Involved in very few aerial duels. Good, brave header in a crowded box for one goal. Tall and strong so the potential is there but simply not enough data to make a fair judgment.
Movement
Movement is hard to judge off event clips. The fact he is involved in play and able to play and receive passes at a reasonably high level indicates he is likely to be finding space. Good interchange with other players around the penalty area.
Range of passing
Averages around 24 passes per 90 at 77% accuracy which is a good level of game involvement for a wide player. He has supplied some excellent through passes and shows signs of very good vision.
Defensive skills
When compared with similar players (such as Richarlison) his defensive workrate looks reasonable with a similar number of defensive duels, interceptions and ball recoveries, certainly higher than Martial for example. The only weak area looks to be aerially.
Verdict:
The safest bet would be, give him a full year in the Swiss second division and get more data but if he carries on his form from the small data sample we have he'll be very much in demand. I'm pretty sure he is destined for a much higher level of football, and probably a top 5 league. His international form is great and he did very well against a highly rated France U19 team.
I'd recommend any top 5 league team to buy him. Not sure he is first team ready, and he needs to continue to select better shots and learn when to dribble and when to pass but the raw ingredients are there for a successful career.

One of the key areas for players able to move up through the leagues is vision, the ability to spot movements and runs from other players. Ndoye has shown some very good signs of this such as this pass.
Pace
Compared to the league average he is very fast. He often deliberately slows down his opponent and knocks the ball past them using his acceleration from a standing start to get by.
Physical
Around 6ft tall, fast, not easily knocked off the ball.
Attacking
Dribbling
He is attempting 8 dribbles per 90, winning 70% of them. This is a clear strength of his game. It is notable that at youth level with Switzerland he attempts a far higher volume of dribbles (24 in one game!) so has shown signs of a better appreciation of when to dribble in adult football. High number of progressive runs (carrying the ball more than 10 metres in opposition half) per 90.
